Texas Bluebonnet Girls' States records, 1958-.

Scrapbooks, printed material, correspondence, clippings, photographs, videocassettes and motion picture film document the ongoing operation of the Texas Bluebonnet Girls' State program. In addition to the organization's scrapbooks, materials donated by two former participants, Connie Bridges and Mary Ellen Trahan, provide a view of Girls' State activities from a personal perspective. The records reflect the influence and leadership of longtime director Frances Goff.

Texas Bluebonnet Girls' State, a program similar to the American legion Lone Star Boys' State, was instituted by the American Legion Auxiliary in 1940. Its purpose is to educate high school age girls in American citizenship by participation in the government of ficticious cities and states using American democratic principles and methods.
